Women Elected Officials Network
The network was established in 2016 and was announced on October 17, 2017 and has more than 90 members. Its idea emerged after several meetings and discussions of female municipal council members from all over Libya, and it was agreed to establish an independent, non-profit entity that seeks to reach a democratic society that guarantees the principle of considering women’s need in all projects and equal opportunities between women and men, and to promote, develop and raise the level of participation in the democratic transition in general and local affairs in particular. This is done by supporting capabilities for effective performance that ensures achieving sustainable development and establishing security and peace in Libya.
